On Monday we talked about what a parable is … the way Jesus told stories using familiar things to teach a lesson. Jesus told stories in parables many times. The parable we discussed on Monday was about the sower and the seed.

Tuesday was Groundhog Day. We had so many cute activities to choose from that we just did them all. A groundhog’s shadow, puppet, matching activity sheet, and an opportunity to use our scissors and glue. In the afternoon we explored “sound” for our Science topic. We made a kazoo after examining our own vocal chords with the palm of our hand, and a telephone out of tin cans and string. Very little playing in the centers on Tuesday as we were so very busy with our table learning activities. So much fun.

Wednesday’s literacy day was all about the letter “P”. Many, many learning accessories help us each month to learn about our letters. Today we even had a special treat from Pizza Hut of pepperoni & pineapple pizza …….. these kids can certainly eat the pizza.

We are talking a lot about nutrition, food choices, health, etc. On Friday we worked on a food pyramid collage. Fun activity cutting and gluing. BTW, every time we sit at the table for a meal or snack we review what we are eating and where it fits on the food pyramid. I have told the children that eating right and getting plenty of exercise will help them to grow up to be big and strong like their dads and/or the super heroes … to which many have exclaimed “and like G”!!!! (G is Sandra’s son) hahaha

Don’t forget our Valentine day celebration on Friday, February 12th. The children will exchange valentines with each other (even the little ones). Just some little something, they all love to give and receive these. Children’s names next week from oldest to youngest will be Carter, Preston, Jett, Aaron, Cooper, Bryce, Emma, Walker, Samantha, Joshua, Zachary, Teagan.
