On Monday we celebrated President’s day with several crafts about presidents using our fine motor skills …… but I later realized I had made a mistake on the date. Next Friday, the 15th, is actually the rightful President’s day so we will do it again with the crafts we were not able to complete. Golly, I hate it when that happens. Our Bible study was about Valentines and love and was taken from 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 John 4, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.” Where does love come from? Who are we supposed to love? Everybody. Even those that aren’t always easy to love.
Tuesday’s science & health day was a lot of fun. We planted peas, pintos and limas in our individual window hanging gardens. I am really hoping we have better results this year. We did a fun exercise examining foods and deciding what doesn’t belong in the different groups. For instance, ice cream does not belong in a group with celery and tomatoes and spinach just like spinach does not belong in a group of chicken, hot dog franks and steak. These little guys are really understanding the food groups. It’s easy to explain to them what is a healthy food choice and what isn’t. Of course, the unhealthy food choices sometimes sure do taste good.
Wednesday’s literacy day was all about the letter “Q”.
On Thursday we made our Valentine mailbox sacks with hand prints and stickers and a love chain … both great coordination practice. This was a first exercise for Samantha who is really a little young for crafts just yet but she had a lot of fun. Thursday was such a beautiful day with all the snow. I didn’t want to let the children actually play in the snow because of the wet & mess it would involve. So we lined up on the patio with the beautiful snow covered backyard and snapped a few pics. Friday was even more beautiful but we were down five so I postponed our Valentine party till Monday at 3:30. Bryce’s mom is making a strawberry cake to go with my valentine cookies. We’ll also have party hats and balloons as requested by all the kids. After all, what kind of party could it be without balloons and party hats.
Have a wonderful weekend.
