What a fun week we have had. Since next week will be a short week due to being closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, we have been very busy this week with lots of projects finishing our month of being thankful. We also have had a lot of fun with our numbers and shapes. Rolling a large dice, counting the dots, putting that many veggies in the basket has been a treat. We have also enjoyed counting pepperonis on paper pizza slices. hahaha. Lots of coordination practice with scissors and our “write out of the box” toys. Strawberry pinchers, wave bottles, clickers, windup toys all challenge these little hands to higher coordination accomplishments … but boy do they try and, many times, succeed. What a thrill to watch the pride that rises up with these little successes.
We have stressed the subject of Thanksgiving all week in our crafts, math, coordination, and musical activities. Our scripture study “Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good” is declared every day in our blessings, in our morning prayer, in our conversation, etc. These little guys are ready to give thanks on Thanksgiving Day.
In lieu of a Bible story on Wednesday, we talked about the first Thanksgiving day. Do you know who celebrated the very first Thanksgiving? It was the Pilgrims who came to America on the Mayflower because they wanted to find a place where they could worship and obey God the way the Bible says. The people were called Pilgrims because they left their homes and traveled to a new land. Of course, there were no houses or buildings at all in this new land. There were no stores to buy food. The people had to hunt in the woods for food to eat. The Pilgrims met Indians who lived in the new land and who taught the Pilgrims how to plant corn so that it would grow well. The Pilgrims and the Indians agreed that they would be friends. The Pilgrims decided they would have a special celebration. They would have a big meal – a feast – and a time of giving thanks to God for helping then make a life in America. The Pilgrims invited their new Indian friends to the feast. For three days the Pilgrims and Indians celebrated with thanks giving. The Pilgrims were glad they had come to America and made new friends. They were very thankful that God took care of them during their first winter and had made their gardens grow the next year. When we celebrate Thanksgiving, we can remember how the Pilgrims left behind their old homes and friends so they could travel to a different land and worship God a better way. They knew that nothing is more important than worshiping and obeying God. When you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner, don’t forget to thank God for all that He has done for you.
The weather has been especially cooperative which we love. We played musical chairs and acted out “please & thank you” on Thursday. On Friday we finished up our art work for the week with finger prints.
We are missing Xander this week as he visits his grandmother for the holidays. Word on the room addition is we should be in by December 6th. Tape & bed complete today. I hope they are right this time because I placed an order yesterday for the last of the new daycare big items which should be here in 10-14 days. Let’s pray that all coordinates properly.
