Greetings to my valued customers,

This week was a little different than most. On Monday Ms Cassima worked in Ms Sandra’s absence. The toddlers and I enjoyed discovering many different things that begin with the letter “E”. We had coloring sheets and we made an elephant puppet. On Tuesday we worked on recognizing two items of many different things. We practiced retrieving 1 item and then 2 items and back and forth. We examined a TeePee made of a triangle and we made a fish handprint in a fishbowl. Wednesday was our October color and show&tell day. This is always such a lot of fun for both the kids and for us caregivers. I took some really great pictures and am thrilled with the amount of pride seen in each one of their faces as they stand alone in front of the group to show their personal item. A great big thank you to you, the parents, for helping us with this little endeavor.

Our Bible story on this Wednesday was about how Samuel listened to God. Do you remember Samuel’s mother, Hannah, asked God for a son and promised to give him back to serve God all his days. Samuel’s teacher at the church was Eli. Eli was very glad to have Samuel’s help. When Samuel ran an errand for Eli, he was serving God. When Samuel cleaned the church, he was serving God. Eli, Samuel’s teacher, grew very old and could not see. One night Eli and Samuel had gone to their beds. Both of them were asleep. Everything was very quiet. Samuel heard a voice, “Samuel! Samuel!”. Samuel ran to Eli thinking it was Eli who had called him. But Eli had not. This happened every night for several nights. Finally Eli told Samuel that it was God calling him and to answer with “Speak, Lord, for I am listening.” And that’s just what Samuel did. And it was God giving a message to Samuel for Eli. But God spoke to Samuel many times. We can listen to God speak to us, too. God does not speak out loud but we can understand Him speaking to us when we pray.

Thursday was full of dancing and acting silly. We pretended to be scarecrows and crabs. And did some “stop drop & roll” practice. Lots of good exercise. Friday was an off day entirely. Somehow a tummy bug made its way into our group and five little ones had to go home sick with vomiting. Yuck!!! Needless to say, Ms Sandra and I were busy with everything except our scheduled activities. Even art folders didn’t get put together. So, next week’s folders will have this week’s and next’s in it.

The room addition is coming along nicely. Roofing, insulation, electrical, etc. The wall between it and the house is down so it’s easy to take a peak if you are interested. The black plastic is still up and it continues to be a bit noisy. So we’ve been spending a lot of time outside and even in my bedroom when necessary.
And a great big “THANK YOU” to Preston’s mommy for bringing us the delicious orange cookies on Wednesday. As you can see from the picture, the children loved them. This was so very sweet.
