Greetings,

This week we wrapped up our Ocean & Ocean Life month and had fun with the Halloween festivities. Monday’s literacy day was all about the letter “F”. We made our memory book craft, examined our beginning sounds tub items, and worked on some fun Halloween crafts. All the children love the spiders hanging on Ms. Karen’s front door so we made a spider and web for ourselves. Tuesday we counted sea creatures talking about more/less and one/many. We played with our fishing poles and counted the fish we caught concentrating on one and two.

Wednesday’s Bible story was about David. Long ago when the people of the Bible lived, there was a little boy named David. David’s very important job was to take care of the family’s sheep. He took the sheep where there was cool water to drink, green grass to eat and shade to lie down to sleep. David played his harp and sang while he took care of the sheep. Many times lions or bears came to get David’s sheep but every time David chased after them and used his slingshot and stones to kill them and protect his sheep. He was not afraid because he knew God gave him the strength to do what he had to do. David’s job may not have seemed very important to a lot of people, but David did the very best job he could. God is always pleased when we do our very best no matter how big or small our job may be. God knew that David loved Him with all his heart. David wanted to make God happy more than anything else. While David was still a boy, David’s brothers were solders in the Israelite army fighting against their enemy the Philistines. One of the soldiers in the Philistine army was a giant named Goliath who said bad things about God and challenged soldiers to fight him. All the Israelites were afraid. David knew that no one should be allowed to talk about God the way that Goliath did. David knew that God could help him fight the evil giant. When Goliath saw David who was coning to fight him, he became angry. David told him, “You come to fight me with a sword, but I come to fight you in the name of the mighty God of Israel. Today I will beat you, and everyone will know that the true God is with Israel. God will win this battle.” And He did. David ran toward Goliath, took a stone out of his bag, and put it into the sling. David swung the sling around his head and let the stone fly straight into the middle of Goliath’s forehead. Goliath fell to the ground and David had won. God’s power is far greater than any power of man or animal or anything else. David was only a boy and God helped him. Remember that God says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” God is always with us to help us.

Be sure to ask your little one about David & Goliath. We did a lot of dramatic play with this. It’s always easy to act like a mean giant. And how the children remembered this story throughout the day.

On Thursday we worked on our Halloween crafts, finger print art and experimented with paint drops mixing colors to make new colors … so much fun. And on Friday we played with shapes and pumpkins and made “Gerber” aquariums to finish out our month of Creatures That Live In The Sea. It’s been a fun month.

Room addition is progressing slowly. Builder came by this week to announce it would be one more month. So chances are it will be an early December date instead of Thanksgiving. The temporary wall between the room and the house is removed and we can easily pass through to observe the progress. Thank you again for your understand during the construction phase of this improvement.

The Lord bless you and keep you safe.
