Monday was a strange day for
daycare. Not very many in attendance due to the icy weather and
travelers. Aria, Jasmine, Joshua and Truman were the only ones who were
brave enough to venture out in the ice and then Joshua had to leave early due
to illness. Certainly was quiet around here on that day. Tuesday we
had our full group and got back to our calendar program as we looked at the
letter S and began our examination of eggs and the creatures that come from
eggs. Wednesday was exciting as we were able to have Mrs. Puff, a hamster
brought to us by Kinley’s Aunt Deane, and turtle we named Dash by popular vote.
(Graham’s daddy suggested we name it Speed Racer.) Deane is a previous
GHD customer whose son Alan was in my care until he went on to Big School this
past September. I am so very thankful for Deane’s extreme kindness.
Our Thursday video, “Eggs Big & Small”, allowed us to view a baby duck
hatching from its egg. Lots of fun this week.
This upcoming week is spring
break for the public schools but we will be open and going strong at GHD.
Miss Megan will be away on spring break, herself, while Mrs. Chris assists me
with our children. In addition to our normal calendar activities, we have
something very exciting planned for Wednesday that I know you will want your
child to be here for. Many, many thanks to Noelle’s mom whose work
supervisor’s grandson raises “show chickens”! Yes, “show chickens”. This
four year old little boy, Dakota, wanted a baby chick two years ago. His
mom agreed and has taught him to be responsible for his pets which evolved into
Dakota entering his chickens in competition events. I’m not sure what
that involves but Dakota is very proud of his chickens and would like to share
them with us on Wednesday. We will have a collection of baby chicks to
view and hold accompanied by a momma hen. In addition, Dakota’s mom is
bringing eggs still in incubation. She told me we will be able to see the
baby chicks still inside the egg by holding a flashlight against the egg in a
dimly lit room. I am very excited about this day. Dakota and his
mom will arrive with their animals at approximately 9:30 on Wednesday
morning.
