This week on President’s day we started reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and will continue on a daily basis.  The children take turns as the flag bearer, the children are learning to stand in place with their hand over their heart (usually right hand), and we recite in unison.  Only five days into it and I can see a huge remembrance.  Noelle, Kinley, Preston, and Aria are reciting large portions in a voice loud enough to keenly hear their words.  Joshua and Landon recite many key words in an emphatic tone.  Jasmine has been out sick this week but showed good signs on Monday when we began.  Aiden, who was my flag bearer today, repeats a few words.  We haven’t been able to get Harrison to recite anything yet and Cade is not yet a talker of any sorts.  LOL  You may think, “my child is too young to learn this” and you are partially correct.  My philosophy of a mixed group is to teach to the oldest child and the others learn extremely fast by watching and wanting to imitate their older friend.  Noel and Kinley are terrific student role models.  Additionally, they are all learning many important behavioral skills like how to follow instructions, stand still, and are very proud of themselves when I praise them.  In the years past I have successfully done this with the children and many have left with the ability to recite most of the key phrases.  And finally, education of the child from age 1-4 is all about stimulation of brain cells make synaptic connections to promote better education ability in their later years.  You can support this effort at home, if you might, by reciting it with your children.

Now’s a good time to examine the clothes in your child’s cubby.  They’ve all grown and some clothes may not fit still.  Please make sure they have a sufficient number of changes of clothes for when they have accidents.  It will be warm very soon so short sleeve shirts with a light jacket is a good idea.  Each child needs a light weight jacket that can remain in their cubby for weather surprises.  And, a personal request, please no boots or flip flops.  It is very hard to change diapers when the child is wearing boots and flip flops are dangerous for all the running outside we do.  Tennis shoes are absolutely the best for play.  Remember, we go outside every single day that temps are tolerable … usually upper 60s as the low.

Have a blessed weekend and thank you for allowing me to care for your child.
