On Monday we read the story of Daniel and the Lions from the Bible’s Daniel 6. Daniel was King Darius’ very best helper. King Darius liked Daniel a lot. But the other helpers were very jealous of Daniel. So they suggested to King Darius to declare a law commanding all people to pray to the king only or be put in the cage with the dangerous lions. Daniel prayed to God and would not pray to the king. So Daniel was put in the cage with the lions. King Darius was worried about Daniel and went to check on him. When King Darius arrived at the cage of lions, he saw Daniel laying down in the cage resting with the lions. God was protecting Daniel from the lions because Daniel was faithful praying to God. We must remember to be God’s faithful children and always pray to tell Him we love Him.

We received our butterfly larvae in the mail on Monday …….. it was so exciting!!!!!! We counted 7 little larvae. They must remain in their container for 7-10 days while they eat and grow and then craw to the top of the container to make their chrysalis. We will then gently remove them from their container. They will live in the butterfly nursery for another 7-10 days until they emerge from their chrysalis. Take a peek anytime. Just remember, as I’ve told the children, don’t touch the butterfly nursery … it hurts them.

On Tuesday Xander and his mommy spent the morning with us before they move to Austin, TX. It was fun to see old friends again. The boys lovingly welcomed Xander and he was right at home. We skipped ahead a week and examined crickets under the magnifying glass so Xander could get in on the fun. Very exciting. We actually had to chase a few of them that got loose as we transferred them from their box habitat to the magnifying domes. Kim O’Brien took a few pics of the excitement for me. We released the crickets into the garden on Wednesday before we had our literacy day for the letter “T”. We are practicing pencil drawing the letters now by holding a cotton ball in the palm of the hand with the last three fingers of the hand making it very simple and a natural to hold the pencil with the index finger and thumb. These guys are catching on very fast.

We rearranged the daycare room again taking the infant area out and turning it into a reading corner with our large pillows, etc. The children love it and the infants love not being behind the cage wall. It was only for Teagan’s protection until she got to the point that she could socialize with the older group and she is growing by leaps and bounds. The toddlers are very sweet with her and all the little ones. It is still a great little group.

On Thursday and Friday we worked on our Ladybug Book which is coming along very nicely.
