Great news. Our lady bugs and lady bug larvae arrived over the weekend so we had a great interesting time releasing the larvae in their habitat which Davis’ mom gave us. So Monday’s literacy day was all about conversation, flash cards and magnified specimen viewers to view our newly received lady bugs. After having fun examining the grown lady bugs under the viewers in our science center, we enjoyed releasing some of them in our vegetable garden. We kept some of the adult lady bugs to view along with the larvae in the habitat. Some of the parents discovered that we have “mating” lady bugs!!! LOL! Lady bugs are great in a garden. They are a good bug that eats the bad bugs that eat our yummy plants. We enjoyed the lady bugs all week and had some really exciting times when Davis decided to take the protective lid off! Ooops, that was a bit of excitement retrieving them all. I also added the very interesting life stages of the worm, lady bug, butterfly and ant to our science center. (I had no idea a worm had life stages.) Our science center is developing into a wonderfully interactive learning center that the children and I have a lot of fun in.
On Tuesday we had a lot of table time doing crafts and math exercises. In addition to number and shaped recognition, we are now practicing drawing straight lines in anticipation of starting to trace numbers and letters. This is a difficult skill so we will repeat this skill practice many times.
Wednesday’s Bible story was actually a expanded version of what we did all week … celebrating and preparing for the most important event in the life of a Christian which is the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. This is the event that sets us apart from all the other religions. Our Creator and Heavenly Father God Almighty came to earth in the form of a man, lived a sinless life showing us how we should strive to live, voluntarily laid down His life on the cross for the propensiation of our sins and is there for each of us to accept as our own personal savior if only we believe and ask Him into our heart. It is my fervent prayer that all these children in my care will come to the very real understanding of having Jesus as their personal savior. It is also my heart’s desire that the parents that are in my association will be drawn closer to Jesus and this message by the things that we say and do here at Grandma’s House Daycare. Although I am very sensitive in my discussions with the children regarding the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus, I am very straight forward with them about the love and forgiveness He offers to anyone who believes and asks. In time, and with your help, they will have a full understanding of their life in Jesus. For now, we are just enjoying the reason for the season and the celebration of our risen Lord.
On Thursday we had so much fun at our Easter party and egg hunt. Lots of great pics provided by Stephanie on the link provided here. We started inside with cupcakes, punch and party hats before going outside for our egg hunt. After the egg hunt, we played a game of balancing the plastic egg on the spoon. A cute game … every time the egg drops, it breaks and spills out a small bean bag egg yolk. Great fun. The afternoon weather was absolutely beautiful and a great time was had by all.

I strive to honor God in everything I do. I enjoy motorcycles, motorboats and scuba diving. I love my husband and my family and I adore my grandchildren. I have always had a heart for children. If children are around, I'm frequently the one on the floor playing with them. After 20+ years in HR, Accounting & Office Management, I chose a self employed venue in child care with aspirations of making a difference in the lives of children. I am a certified Professional Child Care Administrator licensed with the TDPRS to care for twelve children, ages infant thru pre-kindergarten. I employ one full-time assistant. I love my job but it's hard to let go when it's time for the children to move on. Even though they are not my grandchildren, I bond with them as if they were. Alas, tis the nature of the business. But if I can instill in them an excitement for learning, sow a few Godly seeds in their lives, if they can see Jesus thru me, it's certainly worth it.

Megan has worked with children for many years both in the day school and Bible school environment. After trying her hand as a Paralegal, she decided to change her career path, go back to school and is now enrolled in college courses both on-line and at night at a local community college. Megan is focusing on a degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. Working here at GHD will provide her opportunities of practical application and she likes the aspect that it will allow her time to work on her studies while the children are napping. She anticipates staying with us for three years while she continues her studies and then pursues a career in the field of Early Childhood Education. I’m thrilled with the direction God has led me in finding Megan.
