Monday we talked about how we can help Mommy and Daddy at home and Ms. Karen at daycare. It is a lot of fun to be a helper and oh how we love the praise when we show how big we are when we help. These little guys just eat up that kind of attention. We baked shamrock cookies and went through our Community Helper flash cards. We also talked about Spring will be here soon and what happens outside during this time. Tuesday was our math day with a focus on the number “7”. (oooops, calendar says “8” by mistake) For St. Patrick’s day we talked about the green everyone wore and the blinking shamrock necklace Ms. Karen wore. We made green shamrocks out of green hearts, examined the shamrocks we planted in January which are beautifully matured and decorated a headband with shamrocks.Wednesday was our day for our monthly emergency drill. I hope when my inspector makes her appearance she will ask me to demonstrate with the children because they are really cute. We sat at the activity tables and practiced picking up small items with pinchers … excellent small motor skill development and a great teaching tool for using a pencil.
Our Bible story this week was about Jesus healing the paralyzed man. In a town called Capernaum, four men hurried down the street carrying something very heavy. These men had heard that Jesus was in town, and they had a very important reason to see Him. The four men, in such a hurry to see Jesus, were carrying a friend – a man who couldn’t stand up or couldn’t walk. He wasn’t able to work or to feed himself. He was helpless. All he could do was lie on his mat day after day, while others waited on him and carried him places. He had no hope of ever walking or moving about. But he had four good friends who were willing to take him to Jesus because they believe Jesus could heal him. But when they got to the house where Jesus was, they saw that it was completely circled with people and they could not get to Jesus. So they climbed on top of the house and lowered the man down inside the house right in front of Jesus. Jesus saw the poor crippled man and said to him, “Rise, take up your bed, for you are healed!” Immediately the crippled man’s body gained strength and he felt strong enough to get up and walk. The four men who showed their friendship to the crippled man were overjoyed. They were so glad they had brought their friend to Jesus. Do you have friends who need to know about Jesus? You can tell them about Jesus, so He can be their friend, too.
On Thursday we watched our Early Reading CD, made sunshine puppets, and had a fabulous lunch before we laid down for our nap. After nap, Preston’s mom (Amanda) spent the afternoon with us providing a very tasty snack of fruit pizza … crust was sugar cookie. The children loved it and it was so thoughtful of Amanda. Amanda is a school teacher and shared this day of her Spring Break with us. After snack we went outside and Amanda taught the children a new game … one I remember from years gone by but had completely forgotten about it. It’s the cutest little chant of “going on a moth hunt, gonna find a big one, here’s a slide, can’t go over it, can’t go under it, gotta go around it …” The children had such a fun time putting on there “looking eyes” to find the allusive flying moths. Took some cute pictures attached. Little Ms Ava made her first outside debut with the toddler children today and I snapped a cute pic of her on the rainbow hammock. Emma was not with us that afternoon.Friday was the first day of spring and Ms Samantha watched the children as I took care of a few errands. In celebration of the beginning of Spring the children made green scrambled egg flowers and had fun eating them. After nap I showed the children the new toys I bought which thrilled them. They are always excited to have new toys added to the daycare room.
