First week in March was great. We have had many beautiful weather days and have enjoyed lots of outside play. Afternoon snacks are frequently outside on the grass. The children love it … I think more than inside at the table for more than just the aspect of outside. I hand out cookies two at a time and off they run to play coming back for two more every so often. I think I end up giving them more than they would have served to them at the table which they love. But golly, we are having so much fun.

In addition to our planned calendar activities of our letter “S” on Monday and the number “7” on Tuesday, we have had so much fun talking about bugs, reading our special books about bugs and insects (we have about 10 or them!), and we have made several fun crafts of a walking stick bug on a leaf, the number “7” made from fruit loops on paper and the coolest snake made from their self colored paper plate. Bugs, bugs, bugs …….. so much fun.

Bible story this week was about the Good Samaritan. While Jesus traveled He taught people how to be kind and how to live the way God wants us to live. He liked to teach by telling stories. One story was about a man who was traveling along a road by himself. Suddenly a gang of robbers jumped out and began to hurt him. The robbers ran away and left the man badly hurt, lying along the side of the road. Some people passed by the hurt man, people who were supposed to be nice people. But they did not want to get close to the hurt man. So they did not stop to help the hurt man. They did not show any love or kindness to the hurt man. They did not help the hurt man like God would want them to. Finally a man from Samaria rode by on his donkey, saw the hurt man on the road and stopped to help the hurt man. The Samaritan picked up the hurt man, put him on the donkey and carried the hurt man into town to be cared for. This was a very nice thing the Samaritan did. This is exactly what God wants all of us to do. He wants us to love and care for all our friends and people we meet. If someone falls down outside on the playground, do you laugh and make fun, or do you try to help him? You can kindly ask if he is all right and tell the teacher if he needs help. Jesus wants us to be kind to other people, just as the Samaritan showed kindness to the injured man.

Thursday we watched our Early Reading DVD in Ms. Karen’s family room. It is a little long at times but they enjoy the change of atmosphere by going back into the family room. I’m having a cabinet built to house my DVD player, speakers and other components so we can watch in the daycare room. On Friday we examined our worm farm (worms are coming in the mail) and talked about worms. We also looked at a bird’s nest I saved from last year. What fun.

Please don’t forget color day this next week on Wednesday. Every child should bring something green to show and wear something green if possible. Thank you for helping your child to participate.

Have a blessed weekend. Hugs to all.
