Lots of progress on the room addition this week. Monday morning was filled with hard rain but when the rain stopped at noon the workers began framing at 1:00 and worked every day from 8:00 to 6:00 what seemed like non-stop. On Thursday they broke through to the existing kitchen & family room with black sheeting acting as the only barrier. The noise level reached a truly undesirable level so lots of outside play time for the toddlers. The babies are not affected at all in their room and the toddlers are still able to have good, undisturbed sleep in my bedroom. I suspect another week before we are able to get the noise under control so pray for lots of sunshine. LOL!
Our literacy day on Monday was filled with talk of the letter “D” with “D” flash cards, objects in the beginning sounds tub, coloring sheets, and playing “I Spy” something that begins with the letter “D”. I continue to be very pleased with all the toddler vocabulary increase. On Tuesday we looked at the triangle and its three sides, practiced our numbers counting pieces of fruit in our baskets, and counting tails.
Our Bible story on Wednesday was about Baby Moses. We have babies in our daycare … Emma, Ava, and even Sloane are our babies. A baby can be fun, but it takes much of Ms Sandra’s time to care for the babies, doesn’t it? Babies make noise, too! Does a baby get quiet when you say “Shhhh”? No, a baby doesn’t understand. Ms. Sandra holds the babies and rocks them when they cry to make them happy and quiet. The Bible tells us about an Israelite family who needed to keep their baby quiet. They had to hide their baby. This family lived in Egypt. The king in Egypt, called the Pharaoh, was a mean man. He wanted to take all Israelite baby boys away. That was a terrible thing to do. The father of this particular Israelite family, Amram, and the mother, Jochebed, already had a daughter, Miriam, and a son, Aaron, when their new baby boy, Moses, was born. It was hard to keep the baby hidden in the house. As Baby Moses grew stronger, he cried louder! Soon the family knew they could not keep him hidden any more. Someone would hear Baby Moses crying and tell the mean Pharaoh. Jochebed knew she had to hide Baby Moses from the Pharaoh. She made a basket big enough for him to lie in and sent him floating down the river with his big sister, Miriam, nearby in the brush to watch over the basket. Down the river the Pharaoh’s daughter was bathing in the water. Baby Moses started to cry. The princess heard him cry and rescued Baby Moses from the water. When the princess saw the baby boy, she loved him and decided to make him her own. God took care of Baby Moses and God takes care of us, too. That’s because God loves us very, very much.
Thursday’s activities included fruit loops on pipe cleaners, a whale craft and instruments. Our newspaper costumes is postponed for later in the month (I forgot the newspapers. Ooooops!)
Dave and I are flying to Portland Oregon in the morning to see his brother and family and will return Monday evening. In my absence Ms Cassima will be with the toddlers.
Once again, thank you for being tolerant of the construction environment … it’s going so fast now, I can definitely see the close end in sight. Have a blessed weekend. Hugs to all.
