Wow, Monday was certainly hot. We may have to go outside at 8:30 instead of waiting till 9:00 of a morning. Our first day out this week, Monday, was a scorcher. We went out at our usual 9:00 and very quickly everyone was roasting. We are drinking lots and lots of liquid to stay hydrated but still oh so hot. We had to come back in at 10:00 that day. Water days which are still on Tuesday and Friday of every week are a definite relief from the heat. No worries of dehydration on those days. Everyone loves to drink from the water hose. Aaron & Cooper always manage to find every patch of mud in their water play and end up unbelievably dirty. But they have fun. Friday’s water day was different with the new sprinkler in the form of a large plastic lady bug. The kids loved running in and out of the steady spray. BTW – please all toddler participating in water play send a plastic bag for wet clothes. Thank you.

I added a new jungle gym to the back yard. It’s made of PVC pipe and looks like a dome of triangles. Some children’s catalogs call it a dome climber. These little guys love it. It’s the kind of thing that prevents them from climbing higher than their skill level allows while presenting a nice challenge. Carter, Preston, Jett & Jacob were able to scale up two levels. Some of the others went up one. By the end of the summer I imagine many will have mastered it to some degree. Great pics will be posted the end of June.

Toddlers are doing exercises every day and reciting the pledge of allegiance to our flag. Routine is an excellent teacher and already they know the drill. Monday and Tuesday we worked on small motor skills and counting skills. I got the cutest idea while working at our church this past Sunday in the children’s department. Pipe cleaner bracelets made out of Fruit Loops cereal. What fun. Some went on the pipe cleaners and, of course, some went in the mouth. The kids didn’t much like them on their wrist, and the pipe cleaners were a bit too short for bracelets, but the kids were proud of them all the same. Yum, yum. I had to laugh when Aaron’s mom picked him up with older brother Ethan who previously was in my care. Ethan looked at Aaron’s bracelet and quickly ate all the cereal. Mom asked Ethan, “why did you do that?” to which Ethan replied, “I was hungry”. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

On Wednesday we read and talked about the story of Jesus as a small boy. In Luke 2: 41-52 we discover when Jesus was twelve, Joseph & Mary took Jesus, as they always did, to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover Feast. But when it came time to go back home to Nazareth, Jesus could not be found. He was lost. Mary & Joseph went back to Jerusalem and looked and looked for Jesus. Finally, after three days, they found him talking to the teachers in the temple. The teachers were surprised Jesus was so wise for such a young boy. Jesus always loved and obeyed His parents but when Mary told him how worried she had been, Jesus explained that He had been in His father’s house. It’s important for us to love and obey our parents. It’s also important to be able to listen to God. Bible story from Zonder Kidz “The Beginner’s Bible”.

Thursday we worked on small motor skills again. Pegs in the peg board and picking up cotton balls with pinchers were both challenging, fun and provided great opportunities for sorting and counting for the toddlers. Infants were introduced to action blocks that slip through the long neck of a giraffe falling out the bottom … lots of giggles for Sloane.

Sloane, Gavin & Bryce come out of the baby room frequently these days. Bryce is ready to play with the big guys and trying so hard to walk which leaves only Sloane and Gavin with Ms Sandra some times. So we incorporate lots of play time for the whole group which everyone seems to enjoy.

Friday was officially the first day of summer and we enjoyed it with another water day. What fun we are having here. We also had a picnic for our lunch (mini corn dogs, grapes, green beans) outside under the tree.

God bless each family represented and thank you again and again for allowing me to care for your child. Have a great weekend.

Blessings to all.
