What a fabulous start we have had to a great new school year. Sadly two of our pre-schoolers transitioned on to a big center. So we currently have three in our pre-school group of Preston, Cooper and Bryce … two three year olds and one four year old. Emma and Walker who are both two years have the best of both worlds and participate in most of the pre-school activities and lots of the toddler activities. Their skill levels are not yet ready for the printing practice but are reaping huge benefits from the vocabulary practice. In the younger group of Samantha, Joshua, Zachary, and Teagan we are working on colors, shapes, and small motor coordination activities. These little guys are so smart and eager to learn. And as I said, Emma and Walker get to participate in the fun “stuff” of this age group, also. Vance, who is nine months old, is moving to a daycare closer to home at the end of this month so we have two openings at this time.
We have a Bible study every Monday and are beginning again in the old testament with the study of creation. We will work our way through some of the popular old testament stories before we begin our December Christmas focus. After Christmas we will study Jesus as a boy and young man building to the Easter season. After Easter we will concentrate on the beatitudes, gifts of the spirit, armor of God, and various good behavior related topics. Throughout our Bible studies and throughout our days we relate so many things back to our Lord, Jesus.
This year we are addressing literacy and math every day. Two days a week we work on art and two days a week we work on science. I think I have a very good year planned for our group and am anticipating great things.
As always, I thank each of you for allowing me the opportunity to share life with your children and care for your daycare needs here at Grandma’s House Daycare. The happiness and growth of your child is my business.
