Our 2009-2010 school year has come to a close with many wonderful memories of great accomplishments and wonderful friendships. Our little group of 12 has evolved into quite a different group since last September. Little Teagan seems not to be an infant any longer as she plays side by side with the older ones. Zachary has just learned to walk and sometimes already tries to run!! Joshua, who has been walking for some time now, plays better and better with the group. Samantha and Walker have become the best little playmates and enjoy the infant activities as well as the toddler activities. Walker and Emma have joined our toddler table activities this calendar year and although they are not able to do everything, they have picked up. They are learning by leaps and bounds. All the toddlers are accomplished scissor cutters, they recognize almost all the letters of the alphabet, they do recognize all the numbers, are just fine using a pencil and can follow a line with a pencil whether it’s straight or curved. Several are able to put the numbers in proper order as well as the alphabet. I am very proud of this group. I see so many areas of growth both physically and academically. I am quite pleased and grateful for having had the time with these great little guys.
Our Bible stories have covered as much of the Bible as we could be. We started in Genesis last September, learned about many old testament stories in the fall months, celebrated the birth of Jesus in December, learned as He grew into the man in January and February, and rejoiced as He rose from the grave and reigns now at God’s right hand. We wrapped up the year with studies of the parables, men and women of the old testament, heaven, fruits of the spirit, the armor of God, angels. Every day we talked about Jesus and how important it is to have Jesus in your heart. We prayed at every meal/snack, each and every morning as a group at breakfast and Sandra and I asked that each child will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior along with every member of their household. I have taught these children that prayer should be a part of everything and not just meal time. When we have had a problem or skirmish, when someone’s parent is sick or and friend is hurt … we pray for them. Jesus is our “super hero” and sits at God’s right hand to talk to God for us at all times. These little guys know and understand and I’m very pleased.
I hope everyone is planning to attend our end of school year party which will be held this year at Carrollton’s Rosemead Rainforest Aquatic Pool on this Friday, June 4th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Daycare will still be open till 6:00 but I’m hoping you will try to be here a little early on that day only. Wear your swimsuits, bring a yard chair if you want, food and drink will be served, and several past daycare children will be with us. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
This summer will be relaxed and fun. We will continue to have our studies of numbers, letters, colors, shapes, etc. but on a very relaxed basis. Art folders are your’s to keep. We will make new ones in September for our next school year. We will send art work home as we do it.
