Greetings! To say we had a wonderful week would definitely be an understatement. First week in the new room was simply fantastic … for the children, for me … we had a ball. We were not able to settle into our scheduled activities the first day … we just had too much fun so we played and played. I don’t know what is the favorite attraction for the children … the kitchen center, the block/work bench center or just doing belly flops into the large pillows in the center of the room. Toward the end of the week, I organized the books in the roll around book library and the science center. Baby steps. And speaking of babies … Emma and Ava are regularly with the toddlers for play … well supervised, of course. The room is large enough for them to play with the toddlers or separately and they love it.

We have made a lot of Christmas crafts and done a lot of Christmas activities. We have examined the letter “L” with flash cards, beginning sounds tub, craft in the memory book. We have counted and glued the number “4” with shaped tree ornaments, Christmas trees, peppermints. We continue to do our monthly finger print art for our memory book.

We are having so much fun talking about Christmas. It is so exciting to see the beautiful trees and the presents and to hear the Christmas songs. But we know why we really have Christmas? Because Christmas is Jesus’ birthday. We learned how Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem and how Jesus was born in a stable and laid in a manger because there wasn’t room in the inn. Something else very special happened that night. Not far outside the town of Bethlehem where Joseph, Mary, and Baby Jesus were, some shepherds were watching over their flocks of sheep. It was night, and it was dark, but suddenly, a bright light appeared. In the light was an angel! The shepherds were frightened. Nothing like this had ever happened to them before. The angel spoke to the shepherds. “Do not be afraid. I am bringing you wonderful news that will make you very happy. Today in Bethlehem a Savior has been born! He is the Savior God promised!” The shepherds were probably so surprised they could not even speak! The angel was not finished, thought. “You can find the baby in Bethlehem,” the angel continued. “He is the One wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” Suddenly not one, but many angels were all around the shepherds. The angels were saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to all men.” QAs quickly as they could, the shepherds went to Bethlehem. They found where Joseph and Mary were staying, and soon they saw the Baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. The shepherds knew that the Baby Jesus was the promised Son of God because of what the angels had told then. The shepherds were so excited that they could not keep the news to themselves. Everywhere they went they told people what had happened that night when the angels appeared to them and how they had found Baby Jesus. Everyone who heard this news was amazed and surprised. When you celebrate Jesus’ birthday at Christmas, you can be like the shepherds by telling someone you know that Jesus is God the Son who came to earth just as God promised. Jesus is God’s greates gift to us. Let’s not forget to say “happy birthday” to Jesus, too!

On Wednesday we had our emergency drill. We sang lots of Christmas carols all week. Silent Night, Up On The House Top, Jingle Bells, Jesus Loves Me (gotta have that one included), Joy To The World, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. And we are enjoying our new multi use teaching easel We use it for flannel board stories and a place to prop up books when I read to the children. It’s also a magnetic easel and dry erase. On Friday we had a Christmas party with Christmas cupcakes furnished by Preston’s mom. Wow were they yummy with green and red icing! Lot’s of sugar! LOL

We have finished our art work for this month. We are opened only two days next week (Monday and Tuesday) and a few are off the entire week so art folders are ready to go home for December.

Have a wonderful weekend. God bless you and your families.
