What a fabulous week we have had. After being away from my little daycare family for a whole week, I was eager to wrap my arms around each and every one of my little ones for some highly missed hugs and kisses. They each seemed to be thrilled for me to be back. Sweet Carter all week has been kissing me on the knee or the ankle or the arm, etc. … so sweet. For Preston, every day has been like a party for him as he has been happy and excited all week. Landon, Jett, Aaron & Xander just grin from ear to ear as they arrive each morning. Sure has made this grandma feel loved and missed. So Monday we did not stick to our schedule but took the day to just roll around on the floor and in the grass outside and just enjoy each other.

Tuesday we got back on track catching up all week with planned activities … wow, we were busy. But lots of fun. As I’ve said so many times, everything is about building vocabulary. We examined our Expression Flash Cards and talked about what could happen to make us feel like the picture. We talked about our homes, who lives there, we practiced being a helper for Ms Karen and talked about what we can do at home to be a big helper. We examined the Circle and observed many things that are in the shape of a circle. “Cindy Circle goes around and around” sung to the tune of “If You’re Happy And You Know It”. God made each of us very special. There are many different and special people all over the world. And Hey ……. The world is a great big circle! We again talked about our differences and similarities … the biggest similarity being we are all God’s precious children.

Our Bible story this week was about Isaac, The Promised Son. God had promised a son to Abraham and Sarah. They waited for many, many, many years but no son. Finally, when Abraham and Sarah were very, very old, they had a baby boy. Sarah was so surprised that she laughed. They named their son Isaac, which means “laughter”. God always keeps His promises. One of God’s promises is to answer the prayers of those who love and obey Him. His answer may be yes or it may be no but we must remember God always knows what is best for us. God always keeps his promises, but just like Abraham, sometimes we have to wait.

Our small motor skills were challenged as we worked with scissors this week. This is a difficult task for everyone and especially the younger ones but it’s a start. We are doing some very interesting things with finger print art to be revealed in our memory book in May … very cute. We brought out the instruments and had a lot of fun dancing to the music. Dancing is one of the children’s favorite things. Even Sloane bobs her head to the beat of the music. And what better song for some great large motor skill activity but “Head & Shoulders” … a real work out. We reviewed our flash cards for “A” and “B”. A lot of these little guys know almost all of the pictures. I can see a tremendous increase in language just since the first of September. I’m thrilled.

We have practiced all month where our eyes are, where our ears are, etc. On Friday, in reviewing our five senses we first had lots of fun feeling whipped cream and, of course, tasting. “YUM” Then we popped popcorn and enjoyed the wonderful aroma from the freshly popped corn and then made a huge mess eating this delicious snack. Friday’s flannel board activity was all about body parts.
Don’t forget to reinforce signing at home. We practice it every day. This month we have focused on Eat, More, Drink, Water, and Milk. Sandra and I have incorporated many other words into our daily interaction with the children. We’re trying to make it an on-going accompanying language development. Emma and Ava will begin their sign exposure at eight months.

All daycare emails are posted to my Grandmas House Daycare website which also allows for you to subscribe for emails. Right now, I am not posting anything to the website that is not sent in email form, so if you are on the email list and also subscribe to website, you will get emails twice. However, I do post pictures periodically and will post an alert on the site for which subscribers will get an email also.

I pray you find yourself blessed and highly favored by God this next week. Hugs to all.
