We had a fabulous first week. We welcomed Emma, our newest enrollee who is so precious. We missed Xander this week who is vacationing with his grandmother in Austin.
ANNOUNCEMENT, ANNOUNCEMENT, ANNOUNCEMENT ………. Ms. Karen is taking a vacation!!! Dave and I are taking a motorcycle trip leaving on Friday, September 12th at noon and returning Sunday, September 21st. In my absence Ms Cassima will work on the first Friday afternoon and Ms Chris will be here the following week. Ms. Sandra will be here leading the program the entire time.
Our first project this week was the personalized portfolios for each toddler child. Each has been laminated in hopes that it will protect and preserve the folder for a full year’s usage. I will send this home every Friday with your child’s work for the week so be sure to check cubby buckets when you pick up your child on Friday. (Folios for Davis & Bryce were not picked up this week.) And remember, please return the empty portfolio every following Monday. You may keep it at the end of the school year next May.
On Tuesday we measured everyone on our growth chart which is mounted inside the entry hall closet (in case you want to take a look). We also did the hand prints on the art folders and glued the picture and wording. We played with clothespins as we learned to clip (good fine motor skill) and count. Everyone loves to wash their hands. Standing in line waiting your turn is good practice of following instructions and patience waiting in line.
Wednesday was our Bible day as we talked about God creating the heavens and the earth and reviewed the corresponding song from last year. We talked about our five senses and talked about why we are happy. We talked about doing activities at Ms Karen’s and it being like school. Outside we had a contest of throwing balls into the laundry baskets. Great fun. Thursday we did a fun spin art project with yellow paint which is the color for the month. We also worked with the new color wheel and corresponding colored animals and had fun tearing paper. We had several coloring sheets this week supporting the various things we did. And on Friday we did a name collage out of shredded paper.
Next week we will have color day on Wednesday. I encourage you to let your child wear yellow if he has it and please allow your child to bring something from home that is yellow. If you have nothing yellow, anything will be fine. The idea is to stand in front of the others and show what you brought.

I strive to honor God in everything I do. I enjoy motorcycles, motorboats and scuba diving. I love my husband and my family and I adore my grandchildren. I have always had a heart for children. If children are around, I'm frequently the one on the floor playing with them. After 20+ years in HR, Accounting & Office Management, I chose a self employed venue in child care with aspirations of making a difference in the lives of children. I am a certified Professional Child Care Administrator licensed with the TDPRS to care for twelve children, ages infant thru pre-kindergarten. I employ one full-time assistant. I love my job but it's hard to let go when it's time for the children to move on. Even though they are not my grandchildren, I bond with them as if they were. Alas, tis the nature of the business. But if I can instill in them an excitement for learning, sow a few Godly seeds in their lives, if they can see Jesus thru me, it's certainly worth it.
About Ms Meagan
Megan has worked with children for many years both in the day school and Bible school environment. After trying her hand as a Paralegal, she decided to change her career path, go back to school and is now enrolled in college courses both on-line and at night at a local community college. Megan is focusing on a degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. Working here at GHD will provide her opportunities of practical application and she likes the aspect that it will allow her time to work on her studies while the children are napping. She anticipates staying with us for three years while she continues her studies and then pursues a career in the field of Early Childhood Education. I’m thrilled with the direction God has led me in finding Megan.
